Bmw N46 Service Guide

Ok I have read the above guide and I now know what each service does. However I looked on another site which says oil services seem to be every 5,000 miles-is that right? I had the Inspection I done at 60k (well the previous owner did!) so now I am due an oil service in next 100 miles. I have been quoted £84 plus VAT-is that reasonable?

Cant do myself as I pay for warranty and as aprt of that book must be stamped. What I want to know is with other cars I simply got them serviced once a year. Looking at these services it seems you have the inspections doen every 20k miles with intermediate oil services. Is that right or should I be having an inspection every 10000 miles? I ask as I know for example my spark plugs need changing and I know that wont be done as part of the oil inspection. So am thinking do I just get a full service done now or get oil service done and then wait until next big inspection which for me is another 10000 miles away? Because I do low mileage it means my car effectively does no more than 10k per year and so i'd be having an inspection every 2 years-is that frequent enough?

And are the inbetween oil changes sufficient? Hi hi to all on e 46 zone, i will tell you how it go this week, taking bimmer to kwitfits for a service, got car with 65000 now on 82000 had a couple of services with bmw main not been to happy with both services because the car done 82000 now and its on a 03 plate they still do the plugs.ngk. Although as the poll in off topic is proving, a lot of the members here are driving 'poverty' spec BMW's which could mean they arent really in a position to own oneThere's so much wrong with that sentence it's untrue. Just because they drive a lower spec car doesn't mean they cant afford to run one. Truth is the cars on this site are getting old and can be picked up for next to nothing (see the guy who paid 1k for a gold 328).Outsiders who arent enthusiasts probably think 'look at them they cant a afford to buy a new BMW so they buy a 5 year old one' (which applies to nearly all on this site). Maintenance costs on BMWs arent all that expensive in my experience.

Personally, I buy em cheap, service them myself and when the repair bills or mot bills get to high then I just go and buy another for about £1,500, when my P reg 728 of 9 years failed its mot because of a rusted tank and a few other rust areas I scrapped it for £250 and went and bought a one owner from new V reg 740 with all the bells and whistles for £1550 12 months later my dad died and I got his 01 318i se touring, so I had to sell the big 7 got £1200 for it. Still not sure if I should of kept the 740 cos it was a fantastic motor.
